No limitations to public access 1000000 environment 2008 2008 * Article 8 of the Regulation sets the condition for the Commission, assisted by the European Environment Agency, to include in the European PRTR information on releases from diffuse sources using an adequate geographical disaggregation and to provide information on the methodology. The data is based on a scale of 5 by 5 km grid and includes details of nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx), carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH3), carbon dioxide (CO2) and particulate matter (PM10). It complements existing data on emissions from individual industrial plants included in the European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR). publication European Commission Directorate-general for Environment. The diffuse emissions are allocated using GIS overlay techniques for distribution into grid cells with a spatial resolution of 5x5km². The dataset is then transformed into vector polygons and projected into the E-PRTR WGS84 standard projection. A complete and detailed methodology report covering each pollutant and sector is available within the above methodology report.
