Physiological thoroughness of soils in Germany

The map of the physiological thoroughness of soils in Germany provides an overview of the thickness of the rootable space below the earth's surface. Physiological thoroughness describes the rootability of the soil. It is bounded by solid rock, solidified benches and horizons, as well as by pending groundwater. The map is based on the evaluation of the use-differentiated soil overview map 1:1.000.000 (BUEK1000N) and displays the metric value of the thoroughness in classified form. The method is derived from the Soil Science Mapping Guide (KA5) and documented in the MethodsWIKI of the FISBo BGR. For the usage-dependent differentiation of the profile data, the land use data from CORINE Land Cover 2006 are used.
