Die Verbreitung und Vergesellschaftung der B\u00f6den auf dem Gebiet dieses Kartenblattes wird anhand von 74 Legendeneinheiten (gegliedert nach Bodenregionen und Bodengro\u00dflandschaften) beschrieben. Jede Legendeneinheit beinhaltet bodensystematische Informationen (Bodensubtyp) und Informationen zum Bodenausgangsgestein sowohl f\u00fcr die Leitb\u00f6den als auch f\u00fcr deren Begleiter. Im Zuge der Bearbeitung der B\u00dcK200-Nachbarbl\u00e4tter N\u00fcrnberg und Frankfurt a.M.-Ost wurde der LBG-Datensatz von Stuttgart-Nord am n\u00f6rdlichen Blattrand teilweise ver\u00e4ndert. Eine neue LE 20 und eine neue LE 72 wurden eingef\u00fcgt und die nachfolgenden LE jeweils um eins hochgez\u00e4hlt. Gleichzeitig wurde die Linienf\u00fchrung der Bodengrenzen im gesamten Blattgebiet verbessert (Stand 21. SQR describes the suitability of sites under agricultural land use and helps to estimate the yield potential of sites at a global scale. This method was especially adapted for application with soil maps by the Federal Institute of Geosciences and Resources BGR and is published in the documentation of Ad-hoc-AG Boden (representing the soil experts of the geological services of the German federal states). The map shows the SQR for cropland in Germany based on the landuse stratified soilmap of Germany at scale 1:1,000,000. Climate (DWD), Relief (BKG) and landuse data (CLC2006) are used as input data in addition to the soil map. SQR consists of a series of pedotransfer rules. First, eight basic soil properties are weighted and combined to describe the soil (substrate, rooting depth, etc.). Next, hazard indicators are derived (drought risk, soil depth above solid rock). These indicators are critical for farming and limit the overall soil quality. Only those hazard indicators were selected for SQR which have the greatest effect on potential grain yield. The first country wide soil map at a scale of 1:1,000,000 (BUEK1000) has been compiled on the basis of published soil maps of the former German Democratic Republic and the pre 1990 federal states of Germany. To do this, it was necessary to match the soil systems used in East and West Germany and to develop standardized descriptions of soil units. A relatively homogeneous map has resulted, which permits uniform assessment of the soils throughout Germany. The map shows 71 soil mapping units, described in the legend on the basis of the German and FAO soil systems. Each soil unit has been assigned a characteristic soil profile (Leitprofil) as an aid to map interpretation. For the first time the subdivision of the country into 12 soil regions has been represented on the map. This subdivision was coordinated with the state Geological Surveys. These soil regions will represent the highest hierarchic level of nation wide soil maps in future. The colours of soil units correspond to the standards of the 'Bodenkundliche Kartieranleitung' (KA 3; Guidelines for Soil Mapping). The various hues characterize differences in relief or soil humidity. The BUEK1000 was produced digitally. It is an important part of the spatial database integrated in the Soil Information System currently being established at the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (FISBo BGR). Thus, the land cover data had to be generalized. The original land-cover classes were first aggregated into 14 combined classes, then generalized to at least 4 km2 patches, and finally intersected with the soil map units. The unchanged original soil map units were thus geometrically subdivided by land cover. Soil regions, soil landscapes and European climatic zones were also considered in order to stratify the legend of this new digital database. In another working step, the descriptions of the soil legend units were re-written in order to distinguish and to describe typical soil types and soil profiles under forest, cropland and grassland. For that, data from the BGR soil profile data base and from higher resolution soil maps as well as soil profiles from the national forest soil condition monitoring were evaluated. FENACORE. SHui (Soil Hydrology research platform underpinning innovation) ran from September 2018 to August 2022 to address best use of soil and water in European and Chinese cropping systems via transdisciplinary research from plot to regional scales. Combining long-term experiments and modelling analysis at different scales evaluated the impact of Best Management Practices (BMPs) on water-limited crop productivity and soil retention, including socio-economic issues. The project also developed tools to facilitate implementation of soil and water saving technologies in specific farming situations. The objective of this in-person meeting in Brussels is to present the main project findings to stakeholders and policy makers, as well as to discuss in a round table the issues related to use of scarce water resources in agriculture. The workshops served as a way of validating the knowledge acquired from the desk analysis and gathering identified gaps in knowledge More than 500 stakeholders from farmers, policy and government, soil and other advisors, research, business, CSOs and NGOs were interacted during the participatory research process.\u00a0  Regional focused knowledge is co-generated on the existing and emerging socio-economic and geo-biophysical perspectives that determines the health of soils as indicated by their ability to provide ecosystem services. The emerging results were abstracted to a level to find commonalities but also specificities.
