For the regional maps a different approach was used for agricultural land as compared to forest. The maps are based on digital soil mapping approaches using empirical models calibrated to predict the SOC stock and using covariates that are available at a sufficient resolution at the regional scale. All maps are strongly dependent on the Belgian Soil Map (texture and drainage parameters). The regional maps were compiled at a finer resolution (10m x 10m and 40m x 40m grid cells). Next they were joined (40m x 40m grid cells) and finally scaled up to the required 1 by 1 km grid cells. This was done using the following tools: block statistics (mean), mosaic to new raster (mean), project to raster, block statistics (mean), resample (nearest neighbour) and project raster. Given the different origins of the individual maps, the uncertainty varies between maps. For instance, a map of the 90% confidence interval of the SOC stocks was produced for agricultural soils in Wallonia based on a Monte Carlo Approach taking into account both the measurement and the model uncertainties. For Flemish forest soils, spatial and analytical uncertainties were taken into account using bootstrapping techniques. For Flemish agricultural soils, the uncertainty reported is the model uncertainty on point estimates for each data point, in which the estimated model parameters are simulated 1000 times as being independent normal distributed variables using their model estimation and standard error as distribution parameters. No additional uncertainty is taken into account for the conversion functions that use the stochastic variables \"bulk density\". The SOC stock maps are the first comprehensive map for Belgium integrating grasslands, croplands and forests. There are two versions of the SOC stock maps for Belgium: 1) resolution of 40m x 40m in the coordinate reference system Lambert72 and 2) resolution of 1km x 1km in the coordinate reference system WGS84. Parmi ces param\u00e8tres, le carbone organique des sols, qui constitue plus de 50% de la masse de la mati\u00e8re organique du sol, est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme l'indicateur principal de la qualit\u00e9 des sols, \u00e0 la fois pour ses fonctions agricoles et environnementales.\n\nLa pr\u00e9sente couche de donn\u00e9es constitue la cartographie des teneurs en carbone organique total (COT) pour les sols sous cultures et prairies permanentes en R\u00e9gion wallonne pour une p\u00e9riode comprise entre 2004 et 2014. La couche a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e par m\u00e9thode de mod\u00e9lisation spatiale d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e par l'UCL dans le cadre de la convention CARBIOSOL.\n\nPour plus de d\u00e9tails sur la constitution des couches cartographiques g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es dans le cadre du projet CARBIOSOL, veuillez-vous r\u00e9f\u00e9rer \u00e0 la fiche de m\u00e9tadonn\u00e9es documentant la s\u00e9rie de couches de donn\u00e9es.\n\nEn chaque pixel, la teneur en carbone organique total (COT) est exprim\u00e9e en gramme de carbone par kilogramme de terre fine s\u00e8che (gC/kg). Le r\u00e9sultat en sortie du mod\u00e8le est une couche raster des teneurs en COT \u00e0 90 m\u00e8tres de r\u00e9solution et spatialement continue sur le territoire agricole wallon.\n\nLes teneurs moyennes en COT observ\u00e9es pour les sols (horizons de surface) sous cultures et prairies permanentes sur la p\u00e9riode 2004-2014 \u00e9taient de 1.30 gC/kg et 3.61 gC/kg respectivement, d\u2019apr\u00e8s la base de donn\u00e9es REQUASUD.\n\nSur cette m\u00eame p\u00e9riode, 22 % des superficies sous cultures pr\u00e9sentaient des teneurs en COT < 1.15 gC kg-1 et 73 % pr\u00e9sentaient des teneurs < 1.5 gC/kg. To transform the organic matter content (of the original dataset HUMUS1000OB) into INSPIRE-relevant organic carbon content (CORG1000OB), we applied the van Bemmelen factor (1.724). According to the \u201cData Specification on Soil\u201c (D2.8.III.3_v3.0) and the \u201cGuidelines for the use of Observations & Measurements and Sensor Web Enablement-related standards in INSPIRE\u201c (D2.9_v3.0) the content of the map \u201cOrganic Matter Content of Top-Soils in Germany 1:1,000,000\u201c is stored in a single INSPIRE-compliant GML file: buek1000-humus-ob_SoilDerivedObject.gml. The data has been transformed into the following INSPIRE-Feature Types (Spatial Object Types): \u201cSoilDerivedObject\u201c, \u201cOM_Observation\u201c and \u201cOM_Process\u201c. The GML file together with a Readme.txt file is provided in ZIP format (BUEK1000-HUMUS-OB-INSPIRE.zip). The Readme.text file (German/English) contains detailed information on the GML file content. For the regional maps a different approach was used for agricultural land as compared to forest. The maps are based on digital soil mapping approaches using empirical models calibrated to predict the SOC stock and using covariates that are available at a sufficient resolution at the regional scale. All maps are strongly dependent on the Belgian Soil Map (texture and drainage parameters). The regional maps were compiled at a fine resolution (10m x 10m grid cells for Flanders and 40m x 40m grid cells for Wallonia). Next they were joined (40m x 40m grid cells). The regional maps for Flanders were scaled up to the 40m x 40m grid of Wallonia. Given the different origins of the individual maps, the uncertainty varies between maps. For instance, a map of the 90% confidence interval of the SOC stocks was produced for agricultural soils in Wallonia based on a Monte Carlo Approach taking into account both the measurement and the model uncertainties. For Flemish forest soils, spatial and analytical uncertainties were taken into account using bootstrapping techniques. For Flemish agricultural soils, the uncertainty reported is the model uncertainty on point estimates for each data point, in which the estimated model parameters are simulated 1000 times as being independent normal distributed variables using their model estimation and standard error as distribution parameters. No additional uncertainty is taken into account for the conversion functions that use the stochastic variables \"bulk density\". The metadata are available and allow assessing the uncertainties of the stock estimates in the different component maps. The SOC stock map (resolution of 40m x 40m) is the first comprehensive map for Belgium integrating grasslands, croplands and forests. Diese Daten lagen analog in einem damals g\u00fcltigen, heute aber nicht mehr aktuellen Kenntnisstand vor und wurden im Zuge von B3D seit 2014 digitalisiert und neu interpretiert. Das Modell wie auch die hier abgeleiteten Karten zeigen eine m\u00f6gliche Interpretation dieser Daten in einer landesweiten Darstellung.     Aufgrund des Ma\u00dfstabs k\u00f6nnen die Modelldaten und demnach auch die abgeleiteten Karten nicht zielgenau auf konkrete Standorte und lokale Fragestellungen angewendet werden. Die Horizonte entsprechen einer Ableitung aus dem 3D-Untergrundmodell Brandenburgs (B3D) in Form eines 2D-Datensatzes. Das 3D-Modell B3D stellt den Untergrund Brandenburgs in Form ausgew\u00e4hlter reflexionsseismischer Horizonte bis in eine Tiefe von ca. 7000 m dar. Es basiert im Wesentlichen auf Erkundungsdaten der 1960er bis 1980er Jahre, Bohrungsinformationen aus der Erd\u00f6l- und Erdgaserkundung sowie Untersuchungsergebnissen aus der seismischen Erkundung (reflexionsseismische Tiefenprofile und reflexionsseismischen Kartenwerk 1 : 100 000).     Diese Daten lagen analog in einem damals g\u00fcltigen, heute aber nicht mehr aktuellen Kenntnisstand vor und wurden im Zuge von B3D seit 2014 digitalisiert und neu interpretiert. Das Modell wie auch die hier abgeleiteten Karten zeigen eine m\u00f6gliche Interpretation dieser Daten in einer landesweiten Darstellung.     Aufgrund des Ma\u00dfstabs k\u00f6nnen die Modelldaten und demnach auch die abgeleiteten Karten nicht zielgenau auf konkrete Standorte und lokale Fragestellungen angewendet werden. Sie k\u00f6nnen jedoch als Grundlage f\u00fcr Entscheidungs- und Planungsprozesse zu Fragestellungen der unterirdischen Raumordnung, Hydrogeologie und Lagerst\u00e4ttengeologie dienen.     Aus dem Modell B3D wurden die Kartendarstellungen von 12 reflexionsseismischen Horizonten abgeleitet, die fl\u00e4chendeckend modelliert werden konnten. Die Abfolge von Horizont-Substrat-Kombinationen in den Fl\u00e4chenbodenformen mit ihren Parametern (Bodenart, Humusgehalt, pH-Wert, Obergrenze des Go-Horizontes) bildeten die Grundlage f\u00fcr die Berechnung der relativen Bindungsst\u00e4rke gegen\u00fcber Schwermetallen (s. Hennings 2000, Verkn\u00fcpfungsregel 7.1 bis 7.3). Die folgenden Themenkarten weisen jeweils f\u00fcr die Schwermetalle Fe(III), Hg, Pb, Cr(III), Cu, Al, Zn, Co, Ni, Cd und Mn die metallspezifische relative Bindungsst\u00e4rke f\u00fcr verschiedene Tiefenbereiche aus. Wind-exposed areas without vegetation are particularly at risk. The map on the potential risk of wind erosion in Germany shows regional priorities with the risk of soil erosion by wind. The characteristic value is determined by the soil type, the humus content of the soils and the average annual wind speed at 10 meters altitude. Particular attention is also paid to arable peat soils as well as deep and sand mixed crops. The method has been published in DIN 19706:2013 and included in the method documentation of the ad hoc working group Soil. For the application to soil maps, the procedure has been adapted by the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR). The map shows the erosion hazard for arable soils in Germany on the basis of the use-differentiated soil overview map on a scale of 1:1,000,000 as well as the average annual wind speed at 10 meters altitude for the climate period 1980-2000 (DWD).
