So soils made of sand can provide little water with the nutrients dissolved in dryness, and soils made of clay more. Clay soils can store interchangeably bound nutrients better than sand soils. Soils of the same type have the ability to store water and nutrients and make them available to crops at different levels (development/ageing stages). Such and other differences in location conditions that are important for profitability are reflected in basic soil and grassland figures. With ground and grassland basic figures, a land use function is assessed in accordance with Section 2(2) of the BBodSchG, namely in accordance with point 3.c) the utilisation functions as a location for agricultural and forestry use. The criterion chosen for this purpose is the natural yield capacity with the characteristic value of soil and grassland basic numbers. The maps are available for the following scale levels: \u2014 1: 1,000-10\u00a0000 for high-resolution or parcel-sharp planning, \u2014 1: 10,001-35,000 for municipal planning, \u2014 1: 35.001-100,000 for planning in larger regions, \u2014 1: 100.001-350,000 for nationally differentiated planning, \u2014 1: 350,001-1000,000 for nationwide to nationwide planning. Such agreement does not yet exist to a sufficient extent in agronomic terms; what is lacking is a concise list of soil management measures that enjoy broad support among all stakeholders, and evidence on the question what hampers their implementation by farmers. We therefore screened stakeholder documents from public governance institutions, nongovernmental organizations, the agricultural industry, and conventional and organic farmer associations for recommendations related to agricultural soil management in Germany. Out of 46 recommended measures in total, we compiled a shortlist of the seven most consensual ones: (1) structural landscape elements, (2) organic fertilization, (3) diversified crop rotation, (4) permanent soil cover, (5) conservation tillage, (6) reduced soil loads, and (7) optimized timing of wheeling. Together, these measures support all agricultural soil functions, and address all major soil threats except soil contamination. Implementation barriers were identified with the aid of an online survey among farmers (n = 78). Results showed that a vast majority of farmers (&gt; 80%) approved of all measures. Barriers were mostly considered to be economic and in some cases technological, while missing knowledge or other factors were less relevant. Barriers were stronger for those measures that cannot be implemented in isolation, but require a systemic diversification of the production system. This is especially the case for measures that are simultaneously beneficial to many soil functions (measures 2, 3, and 4). Results confirm the need for a diversification of the agricultural system in order to meet challenges of food security and climate change. The shortlist presents the first integrative compilation of sustainable soil management measures supporting the design of effective public or private governance.</p>", "keywords": ["2. We therefore screened stakeholder documents from public governance institutions, nongovernmental organizations, the agricultural industry, and conventional and organic farmer associations for recommendations related to agricultural soil management in Germany. Out of 46 recommended measures in total, we compiled a shortlist of the seven most consensual ones: (1) structural landscape elements, (2) organic fertilization, (3) diversified crop rotation, (4) permanent soil cover, (5) conservation tillage, (6) reduced soil loads, and (7) optimized timing of wheeling. Together, these measures support all agricultural soil functions, and address all major soil threats except soil contamination. Implementation barriers were identified with the aid of an online survey among farmers (n = 78). Results showed that a vast majority of farmers (&gt; 80%) approved of all measures. Barriers were mostly considered to be economic and in some cases technological, while missing knowledge or other factors were less relevant. Barriers were stronger for those measures that cannot be implemented in isolation, but require a systemic diversification of the production system. This is especially the case for measures that are simultaneously beneficial to many soil functions (measures 2, 3, and 4). Results confirm the need for a diversification of the agricultural system in order to meet challenges of food security and climate change. The shortlist presents the first integrative compilation of sustainable soil management measures supporting the design of effective public or private governance.</p", "keywords": ["2. Die j\u00e4hrliche Sickerwasserrate beschreibt die mit dem TUB-BGR-Verfahren gesch\u00e4tzte mittlere Sickerwassermenge in mm/a, die den Boden unter Ber\u00fccksichtigung des kapillaren Aufstiegs abw\u00e4rts verl\u00e4sst. Das gebildete Sickerwasser tr\u00e4gt zur Grundwasserneubildung bei und/oder verl\u00e4sst die Sickerzone als Zwischenabfluss. Die SWR ist eine entscheidende Eingangsgr\u00f6\u00dfe bei Wasserhaushaltsberechnungen oder der hydrogeologischen Grundwassermodellierung. Ebenso steuert sie ma\u00dfgeblich die Verlagerung von Schad- und N\u00e4hrstoffen (bspw. Nitrat) im Boden und beeinflusst indirekt die Standorteignung f\u00fcr Flora und Fauna. Mit der pNAG wird das Risiko einer Nitratauswaschung aus dem Wurzelraum der Vegetation durch versickerndes Bodenwasser bewertet. Der Ort der Beurteilung ist hierbei die Untergrenze der durchwurzelten Bodenschicht. Der Quotient aus SWR und nutzbarer Feldkapazit\u00e4t im effektiven Wurzelraum (nFKWe) liefert zun\u00e4chst die Austauschh\u00e4ufigkeit des pflanzenverf\u00fcgbaren Bodenwassers. Diese wird in 5 Stufen klassifiziert (sehr gering (1), gering (2), mittel (3), hoch (4), sehr hoch (5)) und ergibt die pNAG. Der Kennwert der pNAG ist zur Ableitung quantitativer Aussagen nicht geeignet, da nutzungsabh\u00e4ngige Einflussgr\u00f6\u00dfen (u.a. Kulturart, zu- und abgef\u00fchrte Stickstoffmengen, herbstliche Nitratgehalte im Boden) nicht ber\u00fccksichtigt werden. Die Landesmethode zur Berechnung der pNAG stellt eine Modifikation der Bundesmethode dar, in der die besondere Gef\u00e4hrdung von grundwassernahen Standorten und Moorstandorten ber\u00fccksichtigt wird. In our experiment we investigated the morphological and nutritional response of maize to 6 different pre-grown catch crop variants including pure stands and mixtures. \nAt two field sites in Germany (Asendorf - Lower Saxony and Triesdorf - Bavaria), maize (seeding rate: 9.4 seeds m-2) was established either after pure cultures of mustard, phacelia, bristle oat and Egyptian clover, after a mixture of these 4 species or after a commercial mixture of the DSV with a higher species diversity called TerraLife MaisPro. Their single-species nutrient accumulation was already published in the BonaRes-database under \u201cCatch crop nutrient uptake 1st crop rotation cycle\u201d.  Fallow plots were included as control. Maize was fertilized with 160 kg N ha-1 in Asendorf and 190 kg N ha-1 in Triesdorf. Since nutrient release from catch cops might temporarily vary, we studied the morphological and nutritional response of maize at 4 developmental stages ranging from leaf development over shoot elongation and flowering to cob development. As morphological parameters we investigated the number of leaves, tillers and cobs. In order to study the nutritional response we examined the shoot biomass, chlorophyll content or SPAD values and different nutrient concentrations in young and old leaves as well as the nitrate concentration in the press sap obtained from a 1 cm-piece of the stem base as marker for the nitrogen nutritional status. At both locations, the experiment was repeated in two subsequent years (2016 and 2017) and represented each the initial starting point of a wheat-catch crop-maize long-term rotation. Thus, maize response was tested in total in 4 environments. \nIn general we could not observe any significant impact of the pre-grown catch crop variant on morphological or nutritional shoot parameters at any of the investigated developmental stages and in none of the test environments. B\u00dcK 300: Die Bodengeologische \u00dcbersichtskarte ist das erste nutzungsunabh\u00e4ngige bodengeologische Kartenwerk, das fl\u00e4chendeckend f\u00fcr Brandenburg vorliegt. Die Karte liefert einen \u00dcberblick \u00fcber wesentliche B\u00f6den und ist mit ihren Auswertungen Grundlage f\u00fcr konkrete Aufgaben wie z. Die Legende ist nach Substratmerkmalen gegliedert und besteht aus 99 Einheiten, in denen die Leitbodenformengesellschaften dargestellt werden. Die sie kennzeichnenden Fl\u00e4chenbodenformen wurden mit chemischen und physikalischen Parametern belegt, die in einem Fl\u00e4chenbodenformenarchiv abgelegt sind. In einem zus\u00e4tzlichen Layer werden ausgew\u00e4hlte Profilaufnahmepunkten dargestellt, die jeweils mit einem Link zu einer detaillierten Profilbeschreibung verkn\u00fcpft sind. So wird es m\u00f6glich, mit verschiedenen Auswertemethoden auf die Daten der digitalen Karte zuzugreifen. MMK: Die Mittelma\u00dfst\u00e4bige landwirtschaftliche Standortkartierung wurde in den Jahren 1974 bis 1981 unter Leitung des Bereiches Bodenkunde Eberswalde des Forschungszentrums f\u00fcr Bodenfruchtbarkeit der damaligen Akademie der Landwirtschaftswissenschaften erarbeitet und stellt heute noch eine wichtige Informationsgrundlage f\u00fcr verschiedenste Fragestellungen dar. Der Ort der Beurteilung ist hierbei die Untergrenze der durchwurzelten Bodenschicht. Der Quotient aus SWR und nutzbarer Feldkapazit\u00e4t im effektiven Wurzelraum (nFKWe) liefert zun\u00e4chst die Austauschh\u00e4ufigkeit des pflanzenverf\u00fcgbaren Bodenwassers. Diese wird in 5 Stufen klassifiziert (sehr gering (1), gering (2), mittel (3), hoch (4), sehr hoch (5)) und ergibt die pNAG. Der Kennwert der pNAG ist zur Ableitung quantitativer Aussagen nicht geeignet, da nutzungsabh\u00e4ngige Einflussgr\u00f6\u00dfen (u.a. Kulturart, zu- und abgef\u00fchrte Stickstoffmengen, herbstliche Nitratgehalte im Boden) nicht ber\u00fccksichtigt werden.
