We have conducted a suite of partitioning experiments to characterize Zn metal-silicate elemental and isotopic fractionation as a function of time, temperature, and composition. Experiments were conducted at temperatures from 1473-2273K, with run durations from 5-240 minutes for four starting materials. Chemical and isotopic equilibrium is achieved within 10 minutes. Zinc metal-silicate isotopic fractionation displays no resolvable dependence on temperature, composition, or oxygen fugacity. Thus, the Zn isotopic composition of silicate phases can be used as a proxy for bulk telluric bodies. Results from this study and literature data were used to parameterize Zn metal-silicate partitioning as a function of temperature, pressure, and redox state. Using this parameterization and viable formation conditions, we have estimated a range of Zn contents in the cores of iron meteorite parent bodies (i.e. iron meteorites) of ~0.1-150 ppm, in good agreement with natural observations. We have calculated the first geochemical estimates for the Zn contents of the Earth's core and of the bulk Earth, at 242 +/-107 ppm and 114 +/-34 ppm (respectively), that consider the slightly siderophile behavior of Zn and are therefore significantly higher than previous estimates. Assuming similar volatility for S and Zn, a chondritic S/Zn ratio, and considering our new estimates, we have calculated a geochemical upper bound for the S content of the Earth's core of 6.3 +/-1.9 wt%. Investigating the abundances of these elements, their relative volatility, and isotopes of state-change tracer elements such as Zn, and linking these observations to water contents, provide vital information on the processes that govern the abundances and isotopic signatures of these species in CCs and other planetary bodies. Here we report Zn isotopic data for 28 CCs (20 CM, 6 CR, 1 C2-ung, and 1 CV3), as well as trace element data for Zn, In, Sn, Tl, Pb, and Bi in 16 samples (8 CM, 6 CR, 1 C2-ung, and 1 CV3), that display a range of elemental abundances from case-normative to intensely depleted. We use these data, water content data from literature and Zn isotopes to investigate volatile depletions and to discern between closed and open system heating. Trace element data have been used to construct relative volatility scales among the elements for the CM and CR chondrites. From least volatile to most, the scale in CM chondrites is Pb-Sn-Bi-In-Zn-Tl, and for CR chondrites it is Tl-Zn-Sn-Pb-Bi-In. These observations suggest that heated CM and CR chondrites underwent volatile loss under different conditions to one another and to that of the solar nebula, e.g. differing oxygen fugacities. Furthermore, the most water and volatile depleted samples are highly enriched in the heavy isotopes of Zn. Rayleigh waves are in-plane elastic waves which propagate along the free surface of semi-infinite media. They are governed by Navier equations that retain their form for an in-plane arbitrary coordinate transformation x=\u039e(X), upon choosing the specific kinematic relation U(\u039e(X))=u(x) between displacement fields in virtual, i.e. reference, (U) and transformed, i.e. cloaked, (u) domains. However, the elasticity tensor of the transformed domain is no longer fully symmetric, and thus, it is difficult to design with common materials. Motivated by this issue, we propose a symmetrization technique, based on the arithmetic mean, to obtain anisotropic, yet symmetric, elastic tensors for Rayleigh wave near-cloaking. In particular, by means of time-harmonic numerical simulations and dispersion analyses, we compare the efficiency of triangular and semi-circular cloaks designed with the original non-symmetric tensors and the related symmetrized versions. In addition, different coordinate transformations, e.g. linear, quadratic and cubic, are adopted for the semi-circular cloaks. Through the analyses, we show that a symmetrized semi-circular cloak, obtained upon the use of a quadratic transformation, performs better than the other investigated designs. In this study, the value of improved farmland ecosystem services is used as one of the expected outputs. The data envelopment method is used to evaluate the agricultural eco-efficiency (AEE) of 31 provincial administrative regions in China from 2006 to 2018. The spatial autocorrelation method is used to explore the characteristics of AEE in China. Geographical detector model (Geodetector) is adopted to detect the driving factors of AEE spatial differentiation in China. China\u2019s AEE trend from 2006 to 2018 was downward with the efficiency value decreasing from 1.023 to 0.995. China\u2019s AEE level has improved with an average of 1.004. The spatial distribution pattern represented in space is in the following order: eastern region &gt; western region &gt; northeast region &gt; central region. The AEE gap among provinces in the western region is the largest, and that in the northeast region is the smallest. China\u2019s AEE spatial correlation distribution presents random distribution characteristics. During the research period, the lowehigh (LH) efficiency response area has centered on Yunnan Province. The lowelow (LL) level concentration area has centered on Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Liaoning Province. The highelow (HL) level diffusion effect agglomeration area has centered on Heilongjiang Province. Energy input, water resource input, and carbon emission are the core drivers of AEE spatial differentiation in China. Appropriate governing equations are derived and numerically solved. In the numerical implementation of the hydraulic and structural equations, viscoelasticity is incorporated using the Kelvin\u2013Voigt mechanical model. The equations are solved by two different approaches, namely the Method of Characteristics\u2013Finite Element Method (MOC-FEM) and full MOC. In both approaches two important effects of FSI in fluid-filled pipes, namely Poisson and junction coupling, are taken into account. The study proposes a more comprehensive model for studying fluid transients in pipelines as compared to previous works, which take into account either FSI or viscoelasticity. To verify the proposed mathematical model and its numerical solutions, the following problems are investigated: axial vibration of a viscoelastic bar subjected to a step uniaxial loading, FSI in an elastic pipe, and hydraulic transients in a pressurised polyethylene pipe without FSI. The results of each case are checked with available exact and experimental results. Then, to study the simultaneous effects of FSI and viscoelasticity, which is the new element of the present research, one problem is solved by the two different numerical approaches. During the dynamic motion, such a configurational force is varying in time because it is associated with the variable bending moment at the sleeve entrance. It is (experimentally, analytically, and numerically) demonstrated that, in addition to the states of complete injection or ejection of the elastic rod (for which the mass falls down or is thrown out), a stable sustained oscillation around a finite height can be realized. This \u2018suspended motion\u2019 is the signature of a new attractor, that arises by the constraint oscillation. This behaviour shares similarities with parametric oscillators, as for instance the Kapitza inverted pendulum. However, differently from the classical parametric oscillators, the \u2018suspended\u2019 configuration of the rod violates equilibrium and the stabilization occurs through a transverse mechanical input, instead of a longitudinal one. By varying the sliding sleeve oscillation amplitude and frequency within specific sets of values, the system spontaneously adjusts the sustained motion through a self-tuning of the rod\u2019s external length. A rigorous application of Floquet-Bloch wave asymptotics yields an unsymmetric acoustic tensor governing the  textit{incremental} dynamics of the effective material. The latter is therefore the incremental response of a hypo-elastic solid, which does not follow from a strain potential and thus does not belong to hyper-elasticity. A common ignition source of smouldering fires in tropical peatlands are intentional flaming fires used to clear surface vegetation. To capture the behaviour of these fires, it is necessary to consider the interaction between flaming vegetation and smouldering peat. However, doing so is infeasible with the state-of-the-art wildfire models, as they do not consider the transition from flaming to smouldering and are computationally too expensive at the field-scale hundreds of hectares. In this work, we overcome these limitations and model both flaming and smouldering at the field-scale using cellular automata: that is a discrete mathematical model that uses simple rules to capture complex behaviour while remaining computationally light. The model was calibrated against existing experiments in the literature and used to predict the effect of peat moisture content on the behaviour of peatland wildfires. The model shows how flaming creates smouldering hotspots and how these hotspots merge \u2013 flaming spreads rapidly, consuming surface vegetation, leaving behind hotspots of smouldering peat which consumes most of the peat. The model was then applied to study a real prescribed fire of 573\u202fha peatland in Borneo in 2015, observed by drone footage. The model captured the spread patterns of the fire and predicted that 2.9\u202fha of peatland burnt after 3 months with 70% peat moisture content (dry-based). This ioutcome could have been reduced to 0.02\u202fha if the peat moisture content had been above 100%. Especially, novel statistical physics and complex networks-based techniques have been developed and implemented to substantially advance our knowledge for a better understanding of the Earth system, including climate extreme events, earthquakes and Earth geometric relief features, leading to substantially improved predictive performances. We present here a comprehensive review on the recent scientific progress in the development and application of how combined statistical physics and complex systems science approaches such as, critical phenomena, network theory, percolation, tipping points analysis, as well as entropy can be applied to complex Earth systems (climate, earthquakes, etc.). Notably, these integrating tools and approaches provide new insights and perspectives for understanding the dynamics of the Earth systems. The spread of smoldering in peatland is a multi-dimensional process, which is slow, low-temperature, persistent, and difficult to detect. In this work, we investigate the upward spread of peat fire from the underground to the surface after forced ignition which is a relevant configuration but rarely studied. In the experiment, ignition is not possible if the igniter is deeper than 15\u202fcm below the free surface, regardless of moisture content or density. Once ignited, the 1st-stage upward fire spread is initiated towards the free surface (opposed smoldering) with a peak temperature of 300\u202f\u00b0C, leaving behind a char structure that does not collapse. Then, a 2nd-stage downward spread (forward smoldering) is activated with a peak temperature of 600\u202f\u00b0C and regression of free surface. The upward spread is faster than the downward spread. The rates of both upward and downward spread decrease as the peat density or depth is increased. These experimental observations are successfully captured by a 1D computational model of heat and mass transfer with 5-step kinetics. Modelling results further suggest that (1) the oxygen diffusion controls the entire upward-to-downward spread of peat fire, (2) the oxidation of peat sustains the 1st-stage upward spread, and (3) the oxidation of char sustains the 2nd-stage downward spread. Here we report a series of controlled laboratory experiments of peat fires. Peat samples of 100% moisture content in dry basis were burnt in an open-top reactor with dimensions of 20 \u00d7 20 \u00d7 10 cm. The diagnostics are a unique set of simultaneous measurements consisting of real-time mass loss, up to 20 different gas species concentration, size-fractioned particle mass (PM10, PM2.5 and PM1), temperature profile, and visual and infrared imaging. This comprehensive framework of measurements reveals that the evolution of the emissions varies in time with four observed stages (ignition, growth, steady and burn out) which are characterised by different combustion dynamics. Mass flux measurements show that CO2, CO, CH4 and NH3 are the four most predominant gas species emitted in the steady stage. Incorporating the mass loss rate, the transient emission factors (EFm) of both gas and particle species are calculated and reported here for the first time. Averaging the steady stage, the EFm of PM2.5 reached 23.12 g kg\u22121, which accounts for 87.2% of the total particle mass, and PM1 EFm was reported to be 15.04 g kg\u22121. The EFm of alkane species (CH4, C2H6, C3H8, C4H10) were found to peak within the ignition stage, whereas the EFm of CO2, CO and NH3 kept increasing during the steady stage. Because of these measurements, for the first time we were able to validate the EF calculated by assuming averaged values and a carbon balance, which is the preferred method used in remote sensing and atmospheric sciences. This paper discusses a methodology to assess whether a seasonal climate forecast can provide a useful prediction for a specific sector, in this paper the European solar power industry. After evaluating the quality of the forecasts in providing probabilistic information for solar radiation, we describe how to assess their potential usefulness for a generic user by proposing an approach that takes into account not only their accuracy but also other potentially relevant factors. This approach is called index of opportunity and is then illustrated by presenting an example for the European solar power sector. The index of opportunity provides indications about where and when seasonal climate forecasts can benefit the decision-making in the photovoltaic sector. Even more importantly, it suggests an approach on how to evaluate their usefulness for the user's decision-making. Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) with Bayesian hyperparameters calibration is proposed to obtain a surrogate from input random variables to output DELs in the blades and towers of the up-wind and wake-affected wind turbines. A sensitivity analysis based on the hyperparameters of the GPR and Kullback-Leibler divergence is conducted to assess the effect of different input on the obtained DELs. We provide qualitative recommendations for a minimal set of necessary and sufficient input random variables to minimize the error in the DEL predictions on the wake-affected wind turbine. Extensive simulations are performed comprising different random variables, including wind speed, turbulence intensity, shear exponent and inflow horizontal skewness. Furthermore, we include random variables related to the blades lift and drag coefficients with direct impact on the rotor aerodynamic induction, which governs the evolution and transport of the meandering wake. In addition, different spacing between the wind turbines and W\u00f6hler exponents for calculation of DELs are considered. The maximum prediction normalized mean squared error, obtained in the tower base DELs in the fore-aft direction of the wake affected wind turbine, is less than 4%. In the case of the blade root DELs, the overall prediction error is less than 1%. Therefore, the impact of soil water and integrated fertilization after eight years on prokaryotic microbial communities in different compartments of root zone and their association with wheat nitrogen (N) absorption and yield were investigated. The results showed that compared with fertilization treatments (F), water regimes (W) more drastically modulated the prokaryotic microbial community structure and diversity in bulk soil, rhizosphere and endosphere. The increase of irrigation improved the prokaryotic diversity in the rhizosphere and endosphere while decreased the diversity in the bulk soil. Application of organic fertilizers significantly improved soil organic matter (SOM) and nutrient contents, increased rhizosphere and endophytic prokaryotic microbial diversity, and elevated the relative abundance of aerobic ammonia oxidation and nitrification-related functional microorganisms in rhizosphere and endosphere. Increasing irrigation elevated the relative abundance of functional microorganisms related to aerobic ammonia oxidation and nitrification in the rhizosphere and endosphere. Soil water content (SWC) and NH4+-N as well as NO3\u2212-N were key predictors of prokaryotic microbial community composition under W and F treatments, respectively. Appropriate application of irrigation and organic fertilizers increased the relative abundance of some beneficial bacteria such as Flavobacterium. Water and fertilization treatments regulated the prokaryotic microbial communities of bulk soil, rhizosphere and endosphere by altering SWC and SOM, and provided evidence for the modulation of prokaryotic microorganisms to promote nitrogen uptake and wheat yield under long-term irrigation and fertilization. Ici, nous avons propos\u00e9 la combinaison de donn\u00e9es environnementales (climat, sol, g\u00e9ographie et topographie) avec de multiples donn\u00e9es satellitaires (indices de v\u00e9g\u00e9tation optiques, fluorescence induite par le soleil (SIF), temp\u00e9rature de surface du sol (LST) et profondeur optique de la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation micro-ondes (VOD)) dans le cadre pour estimer le rendement des cultures de ma\u00efs, de riz et de soja dans le nord-est de la Chine, et leur valeur unique et leur influence relative sur la pr\u00e9diction du rendement ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9valu\u00e9es. Deux m\u00e9thodes de r\u00e9gression lin\u00e9aire, trois m\u00e9thodes d'apprentissage automatique (ML) et un mod\u00e8le d'ensemble ML ont \u00e9t\u00e9 adopt\u00e9s pour construire des mod\u00e8les de pr\u00e9diction de rendement. Les r\u00e9sultats ont montr\u00e9 que les m\u00e9thodes individuelles de ML surpassaient les m\u00e9thodes de r\u00e9gression lin\u00e9aire, le mod\u00e8le d'ensemble de ML a encore am\u00e9lior\u00e9 les mod\u00e8les de ML uniques. De plus, les mod\u00e8les avec plus d'intrants ont obtenu de meilleures performances, la combinaison de donn\u00e9es satellitaires avec des donn\u00e9es environnementales, qui expliquaient respectivement 72\u00a0%, 69\u00a0% et 57\u00a0% de la variabilit\u00e9 du rendement du ma\u00efs, du riz et du soja, a d\u00e9montr\u00e9 des performances de pr\u00e9diction du rendement sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 celles des intrants individuels. Alors que les donn\u00e9es satellitaires ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la pr\u00e9diction du rendement des cultures principalement au d\u00e9but de la pointe de la saison de croissance, les donn\u00e9es climatiques ont fourni des informations suppl\u00e9mentaires principalement \u00e0 la pointe de la fin de la saison. Nous avons \u00e9galement constat\u00e9 que l'utilisation combin\u00e9e de l'IVE, du LST et du SIF a am\u00e9lior\u00e9 la pr\u00e9cision du mod\u00e8le par rapport au mod\u00e8le d'IVE de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence. Cependant, les indices de v\u00e9g\u00e9tation bas\u00e9s sur l'optique partageaient des informations similaires et ne fournissaient pas beaucoup d'informations suppl\u00e9mentaires au-del\u00e0 de l'IVE. Based on realistic geometrical assumptions, highfidelity 3D finite element (FE) models of increasing sophistication are created in the Real-ESSI Simulator. Starting with elastic soil conditions and assuming tied soil\u2500foundation interfaces, it is shown that the rocking vibration mode of the soil\u2500reactor building system is amplified by the presence of the auxiliary building through a detrimental out-of-phase rotational interaction mechanism. Adding nonlinear interfaces, which allow for soil\u2500foundation detachment during seismic shaking, introduces higher excitation frequencies (above 10 Hz) in the foundation of the reactor building, leading to amplification effects in the resonant vibration response of the biological shield wall (incl. reactor vessel) inside the reactor building. A small amount of sliding at the soil\u2500foundation interface of the auxiliary building slightly decreases its response, thus reducing its aforementioned negative effects on the reactor building. When soil nonlinearity is accounted for, the rocking vibration mode of the soil\u2500reactor building system almost vanishes, thanks to the strongly nonlinear response of the underlying soil. This leads to a beneficial out-of-phase horizontal interaction mechanism between the two buildings, reducing the spectral accelerations at critical points inside the reactor building by up to 55% for frequencies close to the resonant vibration frequency of the auxiliary building. We established a mesocosm experiment with terrestrial isopods (Oniscus asellus) and millipedes (Glomeris marginata) fed by leaf litter from six common European tree species (ash, maple, lime, beech, oak and Norway spruce) to reveal the effect of litter chemistry on consumption rate and feeding preference as well as on the compositions of gut and faecal microbiomes. The total percentage of consumed litter showed that O. asellus preferred nutrient-rich and labile-C litter of ash over more recalcitrant litter of oak, beech, and Norway spruce, while G. marginata preferred calcium-rich ash, maple and lime litter over beech and Norway spruce. Consumption of litter by O. asellus and G. marginata increased with concentrations of magnesium, sulphur and potassium but decreased with concentrations of iron, phosphorus, lignin, cellulose and TOC. The millipede G. marginata harboured higher bacterial OTU richness (73.5 \u00b1 12.5) than the isopod O. asellus (49.1 \u00b1 15.9), but fungal OTU richness was similar with 25.8 \u00b1 6.7 in O. asellus and 25.7 \u00b1 2.7 in G. marginata. In total, faeces of both animals hosted higher diversity than gut. In gut and faeces of O. asellus, the fungal OTU richness was highest for individuals fed by litter of Norway spruce, while lowest OTU richness was recorded for individuals fed by litter of more palatable ash. In contrast, the highest diversity of the fungal community in gut and faeces of G. marginata was recorded for individuals fed by palatable lime litter, while the lowest OTUs richness was recorded when millipedes were fed by maple and spruce. The structures of bacterial and fungal communities generally separated between O. asellus and G. marginata. The fungal community structure in gut and faeces differed between animals fed by different foliar litters, while the bacterial community structure mainly differed between gut and faeces regardless of the offered type of litter. The fungal community structure in gut and faeces of O. asellus and G. marginata were shaped by concentrations of magnesium, sulphur, lignin and cellulose. The bacterial communities in gut and faeces of both O. asellus and G. marginata were dominated by copiotrophic bacteria, while fungal communities were dominated by unspecified saprotrophs. The transformations between plane wave and cylindrical wave functions were used to facilitate the application of boundary conditions at the ground surface and the tunnel interface. It was found that the vibration of the shallowly-buried tunnel increases significantly as the load moving speed increases, and reaches a maximum value at a critical load velocity. The tunnel vibration can be greatly reduced as the buried depth increases, and can satisfy the requirement of vibration specification (ISO 04866-2010) after it exceeds the critical depth. The thermal characterization of the components of DUSST and the methodology used to predict soiling transmittance losses are presented in this study. The results show that the losses can be predicted with an error lower than 1.4%. An ad-hoc multiple scattering formulation is developed to describe the dynamic interaction between Rayleigh waves and a generic array of surface resonators. The approach allows to calculate the spectrum of natural frequencies of the quasiperiodic metasurface which reveals a fractal distribution of the frequency gaps reminiscent of the Hofstadter butterfly. These gaps have nontrivial topological properties and can host Rayleigh-like edge modes. We demonstrate that such topologically protected edge modes can be driven from one boundary to the opposite of the array by a smooth variation of the phason, a parameter which modulates the geometry of the array. The ionospheric plasma is unstable with respect to the electrostatic Farley\uffe2\uff80\uff90Buneman instability in both cases, but the DC electric field is somewhat enhanced during the downleg part of the flight. We find that the direction of wave propagation as given by the local normalized fluctuating electrostatic field vector varies randomly within an interval of aspect angles. The distribution of the directional change per time unit is determined. The waves propagate predominantly in the electrojet direction, but significant variations in directions can be found, both with respect to the magnetic field (the aspect angle) and with respect to the electrojet direction. Some of our results are in variance with related radar observations in the electrojet near the equator. Indications of significant spatial intermittency of the signal is demonstrated. Large\uffe2\uff80\uff90amplitude electrostatic fluctuations are confined to spatially localized regions and have a narrower aspect angle distribution with reduced directional fluctuations. We introduce an intermittency measure based on average excess time statistics for the record for the absolute value of the detected time\uffe2\uff80\uff90varying electric fields. We thus determine the average of time intervals spent above a prescribed amplitude threshold level. The results are compared with an analytical expression obtained for a reference nonintermittent Gaussian signal. The general analysis requires the joint probability density of signal amplitude and its time derivative to be known. In a study published recently, the first field measurements of PM2.5 emission factors for tropical peat fires showed larger emissions than from other fuel types. Here we report even higher PM2.5 emission factors, measured at newly ignited peat fires in Malaysia, suggesting that current estimates of fine particulate emissions from peat fires may be underestimated by a factor of 3 or more. In addition, we use both field and laboratory measurements of burning peat to provide the first mechanistic explanation for the high variability in PM2.5 emission factors, demonstrating that buildup of a surface ash layer causes the emissions of PM2.5 to decrease as the peat fire progresses. This finding implies that peat fires are more hazardous (in terms of aerosol emissions) when first ignited than when still burning many days later. Varying emission factors for PM2.5 also have implications for our ability to correctly model the climate and air quality impacts downwind of the peat fires. For modelers able to implement a time\uffe2\uff80\uff90varying emission factor, we recommend an emission factor for PM2.5 from newly ignited tropical peat fires of 58\uffc2\uffa0g of PM2.5 per kilogram of dry fuel consumed (g/kg), reducing exponentially at a rate of 9%/day. Several deep craters (basins) in the northern equatorial regions show compelling signs that large amounts of water once existed on Mars at a planet\uffe2\uff80\uff90wide scale. The presence of water\uffe2\uff80\uff90formed features, including fluvial Gilbert and sapping deltas fed by sapping valleys, constitute strong evidence of groundwater upwelling resulting in long term standing bodies of water inside the basins. Terrestrial field evidence shows that sapping valleys can occur in basalt bedrock and not only in unconsolidated sediments. A hypothesis that considers the elevation differences between the observed morphologies and the assumed basal groundwater level is presented and described as the \uffe2\uff80\uff9cdike\uffe2\uff80\uff90confined water\uffe2\uff80\uff9d model, already present on Earth and introduced for the first time in the Martian geological literature. Only the deepest basins considered in this study, those with bases deeper than \uffe2\uff88\uff924000\uffc2\uffa0m in elevation below the Mars datum, intercepted the water\uffe2\uff80\uff90saturated zone and exhibit evidence of groundwater fluctuations. The discovery of these groundwater discharge sites on a planet\uffe2\uff80\uff90wide scale strongly suggests a link between the putative Martian ocean and various configurations of sedimentary deposits that were formed as a result of groundwater fluctuations during the Hesperian period. This newly recognized evidence of water\uffe2\uff80\uff90formed features significantly increases the chance that biosignatures could be buried in the sediment. We define the asymmetry metric as the ratio between the number of positive interevent time increments minus negative increments and the total (positive plus negative) number of increments. Such asymmetry commonly exists in time series data for nonlinear geophysical systems like river flow which decays slowly and increases rapidly. We find that earthquake interevent time series are significantly asymmetric, where the asymmetry function exhibits a significant crossover to weak asymmetry at large lag index. We suggest that the Omori law can be associated with the large asymmetry at short time intervals below the crossover whereas overlapping aftershock sequences and the spontaneous events can be associated with a fast decay of asymmetry above the crossover. We test this assumption by making the first comparison between Viking 1 and InSight surface pressure data, which were recorded 40\uffc2\uffa0years apart. Such a comparison also allows us to determine changes in the dynamics of the seasonal ice caps between these two periods. To do so, we first had to recalibrate the InSight pressure data because of their unexpected sensitivity to the sensor temperature. Then, we had to design a procedure to compare distant pressure measurements. We propose two surface pressure interpolation methods at the local and global scale to do the comparison. The comparison of Viking and InSight seasonal surface pressure variations does not show changes larger than \uffc2\uffb18\uffc2\uffa0Pa in the CO2 cycle. Such conclusions are supported by an analysis of Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) pressure data. Further comparisons with images of the south seasonal cap taken by the Viking 2 orbiter and MARCI camera do not display significant changes in the dynamics of this cap over a 40\uffc2\uffa0year period. Only a possible larger extension of the North Cap after the global storm of MY 34 is observed, but the physical mechanisms behind this anomaly are not well determined. Here, we investigate the existence of this layer during erosion events recorded in Iceland and Jordan. Size\uffe2\uff80\uff90resolved dust fluxes were estimated at three levels between 2 and 4\uffc2\uffa0m using the eddy\uffe2\uff80\uff90covariance method. Dust fluxes were found mainly constant only between the two upper levels in Iceland, the lower dust flux being often stronger and richer in coarse particles, while dust fluxes in Jordan were nearly constant across all levels. The wind dynamics could not explain the absence of a constant dust flux layer in Iceland. We show that the presence of stationary dust source patches in Iceland, related to surface humidity, created a non\uffe2\uff80\uff90uniform dust layer near the surface, named dust roughness sublayer (DRSL), where individual plumes behind each patch interact but do not fully mix. The lowest dust measurement level was probably located within this sublayer while the upper ones were located above, such that there the emitted dust became spatially well\uffe2\uff80\uff90mixed. This explains near the surface in Iceland, the more intermittent dust concentration, its low correlation with the dust concentrations above, and the richer dust flux in coarse particles due to their lower deposition contribution. Se establecieron seis tratamientos de tasa de siembra (0, 0.23, 0.34, 0.46, 0.69 y 0.92 AU ha\u22121) con tres r\u00e9plicas, y se realizaron observaciones de 2010 a 2014. Nuestros resultados mostraron que se produjeron fluctuaciones temporales sustanciales en el flujo de N2O entre las diferentes intensidades de pastoreo, con flujos m\u00e1ximos de N2O despu\u00e9s de la lluvia natural. El pastoreo tuvo un efecto a largo plazo en el flujo de N2O del suelo en los pastizales. Despu\u00e9s de 4\u20135 a\u00f1os de pastoreo, los flujos de N2O bajo mayores niveles de intensidad de pastoreo comenzaron a disminuir significativamente en un 31.4%\u201360.2% en 2013 y 32.5%\u201350.5% en 2014 en comparaci\u00f3n con el tratamiento sin pastoreo. A comparison of the outcomes among afforestation with native alder or exotic pine, pasture restoration with either low-input or intense management and the abandoned status quo shows that both variants of afforestation and intense pasture use improve the ecological value, but low-input pasture does not. Economic indicators favour either afforestation or intense pasturing. Here we examine the under-investigated role of iron (Fe) in mediating soil enzyme activity and lignin stabilization in a mesocosm WTD experiment in an alpine wetland. In contrast to the classic \uffe2\uff80\uff98enzyme latch\uffe2\uff80\uff99 theory, phenol oxidative activity is mainly controlled by ferrous iron [Fe(II)] and declines with WTD, leading to an accumulation of dissolvable aromatics and a reduced activity of hydrolytic enzyme. Furthermore, using dithionite to remove Fe oxides, we observe a significant increase of Fe-protected lignin phenols in the air-exposed soils. Fe oxidation hence acts as an \uffe2\uff80\uff98iron gate\uffe2\uff80\uff99 against the \uffe2\uff80\uff98enzyme latch\uffe2\uff80\uff99 in regulating wetland SOC dynamics under oxygen exposure. In particular, topological phases in non-Hermitian systems have attracted growing interests in recent years. In this work, we predict the emergence of the topologically stable nodal disks where the real part of the eigen frequency is degenerate between two bands in non-ideal magnetohydrodynamics plasma with collision and viscosity dissipations. Each nodal disk possesses continuously distributed topological surface charge density that integrates to unity. It is found that the lossy Fermi arcs at the interface connect to the middle of the projection of the nodal disks. We further show that the emergence, coalescence, and annihilation of the nodal disks can be controlled by plasma parameters and dissipation terms. Our findings contribute to understanding of the linear theory of bulk and surface wave dispersions of non-ideal warm magnetic plasmas from the perspective of topological physics.</p", "keywords": ["0103 physical sciences", "01 natural sciences", "7.
