O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar varia\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffb5es quantitativas e qualitativas da MO e caracterizar compartimentos org\uffc3\uffa2nicos em um Latossolo Vermelho-Escuro argiloso sob vegeta\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o natural antropizada (CER), pastagem de longa dura\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o (PAL), pastagem degradada (PAD), e pousio (PAC), comparados com culturas sob preparo convencional (CCL) e plantio direto (PD). Foi encontrada pouca varia\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o dos estoques org\uffc3\uffa2nicos na camada superficial, explicada pela antropiza\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o da vegeta\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o em CER, pela n\uffc3\uffa3o-exporta\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o dos res\uffc3\uffadduos em PD e CCL e pela pr\uffc3\uffa1tica de pousio em PAC. Fracionamento granulom\uffc3\uffa9trico, considerando os compartimentos: res\uffc3\uffadduos vegetais (20-2.000 \uffc2\uffb5m), organo-siltoso (2-20 \uffc2\uffb5m) e organo-argiloso (0-2 \uffc2\uffb5m), mostrou diferen\uffc3\uffa7as na qualidade da MO quando comparadas situa\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffb5es edafoambientais semelhantes. Mesmo com pequenas varia\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffb5es, o compartimento res\uffc3\uffadduos vegetais foi um indicador da evolu\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o dos estoques org\uffc3\uffa2nicos, permitindo a caracteriza\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o da degrada\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o nas pastagens e do efeito do plantio direto, quando comparado ao sistema convencional. PD favoreceu a estocagem de C no compartimento organo-argiloso. Soil samples were collected from plots under the following management conditions: a) natural dense 'cerrado' vegetation (savanna); b) degraded Brachiaria decumbens pasture, 20 years old; c) no-tillage treatment with annual crop sequence (bean, corn, soybean and dark-oat in continuous rotation), 8 years old; d) conventional tillage treatment with crop residues added to the soil, and annual crop sequence, 10 years old. The continuous use of no-tillage system resulted in an increase in microbial biomass and decrease in soil basal respiration, therefore displaying evident long-term effects on the increase of soil C content. The no-tillage system also provided an improvement in bulk density and chemical properties of the soil. Hence, the no-tillage management system could be an alternative for the conservation and maintenance of physical and chemical conditions and the productive potential of 'cerrado' soils.</p>", "keywords": ["2. N\uffc3\uffa3o houve diferen\uffc3\uffa7a significativa nos teores e no estoque de C e N totais do solo, embora o plantio convencional de longa dura\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o tenha apresentado varia\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffb5es negativas no estoque de C em rela\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o ao cerrado nativo at\uffc3\uffa9 20 cm de profundidade, ao contr\uffc3\uffa1rio dos sistemas com menor revolvimento. O am\uffc3\uffb4nio predominou no cerrado nativo e na pastagem ao longo de praticamente todo o perfil, enquanto os teores de nitrato foram maiores na camada superficial dos sistemas com culturas anuais. Foram avaliados a vegeta\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o natural e sistemas de manejo compostos de pastagens, lavouras anuais em preparo convencional e em plantio direto, e rota\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o de pastagem com lavoura, em experimentos de longa dura\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o conduzidos em Dourados, Maracaju e Campo Grande, MS. Os experimentos foram dispostos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em Dourados e Maracaju, e em blocos ao acaso em Campo Grande. Foram determinados os teores e os estoques de C total no solo e em fra\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffb5es granulom\uffc3\uffa9tricas da mat\uffc3\uffa9ria org\uffc3\uffa2nica do solo (MOS). A qualidade da MOS foi estimada pela rela\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o entre o C nas fra\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffb5es l\uffc3\uffa1bil e n\uffc3\uffa3o l\uffc3\uffa1bil, e expressa na forma de labilidade. A pastagem, permanente ou em rota\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o com lavouras, aumentou o C na fra\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o particulada e a labilidade da MOS. However, in order for biochar to fulfill this promise, the industry and regulating bodies must take steps to manage potential environmental threats and address negative perceptions. The potential threats to the sustainability of biochar systems, at each stage of the biochar life cycle, were reviewed. We propose that a sustainability framework for biochar could be adapted from existing frameworks developed for bioenergy. Sustainable land use policies, combined with effective regulation of biochar production facilities and incentives for efficient utilization of energy, and improved knowledge of biochar impacts on ecosystem health and productivity could provide a strong framework for the development of a robust sustainable biochar industry. In order to investigate the effect of biochar on the mineralization of barley straw, soil was incubated with 14C-labelled barley straw with or without unlabelled biochar. To investigate the effect of straw on the mineralization of biochar, soil was incubated with 14C-labelled biochar with or without straw. In addition, to investigate the effect of biochar on old SOM, a soil labelled by applying labelled straw 40 years ago was incubated with different levels of biochar. All experiments had a control treatment, without any soil amendment. The effect of biochar on the straw mineralization was small and nonsignificant. Without biochar, 48\uffc2\uffb10.2% of the straw carbon was mineralized within the 451 days of the experiment. In comparison, 45\uffc2\uffb11.6% of C was mineralized after biochar addition of 1.5 g kg-1. In the SOM-labelled soil, the organic matter mineralized more slowly with the increasing doses of biochar. Biochar addition at 7.7 g kg-1 reduced SOM mineralization from 6.6 to 6.3%, during the experimental period. The addition of 15.5 g kg-1 of biochar reduced the mineralized SOM to 5.7%. O experimento foi realizado em Latossolo Vermelho de textura m\uffc3\uffa9dia, em Ponta Grossa, PR. Os tratamentos consistiram da aplica\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o de calc\uffc3\uffa1rio dolom\uffc3\uffadtico na superf\uffc3\uffadcie do solo, nas doses 0 e 6 Mg ha-1, em 1993, e da reaplica\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o de 0 e 3 Mg ha-1, em 2000, nas parcelas com e sem calc\uffc3\uffa1rio. O solo foi coletado em 2008, e foram analisados os conte\uffc3\uffbados de COT e os atributos de fertilidade. A calagem produziu aumento do conte\uffc3\uffbado de COT e da satura\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o por bases, e diminui\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o da satura\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o por alum\uffc3\uffadnio. O conte\uffc3\uffbado de COT apresentou rela\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o linear com a capacidade de troca cati\uffc3\uffb4nica (CTC) efetiva e correla\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o com os teores de P e K. A CTC potencial apresentou correla\uffc3\uffa7\uffc3\uffa3o com o COT, e a CTC efetiva com o pH. Las tasas de cambio de COS estimadas con el RothC, en ambas profundidades de suelo, estuvieron en 0,5-1,2, 0,4-0,8, 0,3-0,5 y 0,04-0,1 Mg ha-1 de C por a\uffc3\uffb1o en los sistemas HIG, MUL, CALL y TMC, respectivamente, y fueron consistentes con las reportadas en la literatura. While C stock of 116 Mg ha-1 was found in the baseline area, in areas under CT and NT systems the values ranged from 120 to 127 Mg ha-1. Laser-Induced Fluorescence Spectroscopy showed that CT makes the soil surface (0-20 cm) more homogeneous than the NT system due to the effect of soil disturbance, and that the SOM humification index (H LIF) is larger in CT compared to NT conditions. In contrast, NT had a gradient of increasing H LIF, showing that the entry of labile organic material such as straw is also responsible for the accumulation of C in this system. Conventional soil monitoring techniques often rely on invasive sampling methods, which can be labor-intensive, disruptive, and limited in spatial coverage. In contrast, non-invasive geophysical techniques, particularly ground-penetrating radar, have gained attention as tools for assessing soil properties. However, an assessment of ground-penetrating radar\u2019s applications in agricultural soil research\u2014particularly for detecting soil structural changes related to degradation\u2014remains undetermined. To address this issue, a systematic literature review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020 guidelines. A search was conducted across Scopus and Web of Science databases, as well as relevant review articles and study reference lists, up to 31 December 2024. This process resulted in 86 potentially relevant studies, of which 24 met the eligibility criteria and were included in the final review. The analysis revealed that the ground-penetrating radar allows the detection of structural changes associated with tillage practices and heavy machinery traffic in agricultural lands, namely topsoil disintegration and soil compaction, both of which are important indicators of soil degradation. These variations are reflected in changes in electrical permittivity and reflectivity, particularly above the tillage horizon. These shifts are associated with lower soil water content, increased soil homogeneity, and heightened wave reflectivity at the upper boundary of compacted soil. The latter is linked to density contrasts and waterlogging above this layer. Additionally, ground-penetrating radar has demonstrated its potential in mapping alterations in electrical permittivity related to preferential water flow pathways, detecting shifts in soil organic carbon distribution, identifying disruptions in root systems due to tillage, and assessing soil conditions potentially affected by excessive fertilization in iron oxide-rich soils. Future research should focus on refining methodologies to improve the ground-penetrating radar\u2019s ability to quantify soil degradation processes with greater accuracy. This study aimed to analyse the willingness to consume domestic eucalyptus firewood, and the related motivations of consumers considering the preferred supply method. Data was collected through a web-survey and analysed applying a multilevel regression. In general, the sample showed that attention is paid to both the type of wood and its origin, and that there is a preference for loose firewood as a supply method. Our findings suggest that factors such as age, experience, and familiarity with a product, the supply method, attitude towards novelty, provenience, and energetic density of firewood have an important role in shaping individual inclination towards consuming domestic eucalyptus firewood. This is due to different factors that influence the decomposition process. In field conditions, the incorporation of crop residues into soil does not always have a positive effect on aggregate stability. The aim of this study was to investigate the decomposition effects of residues from two different cover crops (Brassica napus var. oleifera and Secale cereale) and one main crop (wheat straw) on soil aggregate stability. A 105-day incubation experiment was conducted in which crop residues were mixed with sandy loam soil at a rate of 6 g C kg\uffe2\uff88\uff921 of soil. During the incubation, there were five water additions. The decomposition effects of organic matter on soil conditions during incubation were evaluated by determining the soil functional groups; carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrous oxide (N2O), and methane (CH4) emissions; soil microbial biomass carbon (MBC); and water-stable aggregates (WSA). The functional groups of the plant residues and the soil were analyzed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and a double exponential model was used to estimate the decomposition rates. The results show that the decomposition rate of fresh organic materials was correlated with the soil functional groups and the C/N ratio. Oilseed rape and rye, with lower C/N ratios than wheat straw residues, had faster decomposition rates and higher CO2 and N2O emissions than wheat straw. The CO2 and N2O flush at the start of the experiment corresponded to a decrease of soil aggregate stability (from Day 3 to Day 10 for CO2 and from Day 19 to Day 28 for N2O emissions), which was linked to higher decomposition rates of the labile fraction. The lower decomposition rates contributed to higher remaining C (carbon) and higher soil aggregate stability. The results also show that changes in the soil functional groups due to crop residue incorporation did not significantly influence aggregate stability. Soil moisture (SM) negatively influenced the aggregate stability and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in all treatments (oilseed rape, rye, wheat straw, and control). Irrespective of the water addition procedure, rye and wheat straw residues had a positive effect on water-stable aggregates more frequently than oilseed rape during the incubation period. The results presented here may contribute to a better understanding of decomposition processes after the incorporation of fresh crop residues from cover crops. The hypothesis was that in the cases of lower intensity or no soil tillage, there would be a higher level of fungal diversity with a lower ratio of pathogen strains in grape rhizosphere. In the course of this research, it has been determined that the level of fungal colonization of roots is the highest in the extensively managed vineyard, unrelated to season (spring and summer). Four of the five fungal genera detectable in all of the three sampled vineyards are registered as opportunist grape pathogens, however the fifth one, Trichoderma, is commonly used in biological plant protection. The diversity of fungal communities in grape rhizosphere, in accordance with the expectations, was the lowest in the intensively cultivated and highest in the abandoned vineyard, and it was not affected by seasons. The experimental field was a commercial steep-slope vineyard with shallow soils characterized by a high presence of coarse rock fragments in the Mosel area of Germany. The field experiment was set up as randomized block design. Rows were either cultivated with Riesling (Vitis vinifera L.) as a monocrop or intercropped with Origanum vulgare or Thymus vulgaris. Regarding soil moisture and nutrient levels, the topsoil (0\uffe2\uff80\uff930.1 m) was more affected by intercropping than the subsoil (0.1\uffe2\uff80\uff930.3 m). Gravimetric moisture was consistently lower in the intercropped topsoil. While NO3-N was almost unaffected by crop diversification, NH4-N, K, and P were uniformly reduced in topsoil. Yield stabilization due to intercropping with thyme and oregano seems possible with sufficient rainfall or by irrigation. Four lupin accessions, one Lupinus albus and three Andean lupins were used in the experiments (L. albus Mihai, L. mutabilis LIB 220, LIB 221, LIB 222). Seedlings at four developmental stages were challenged with five different levels of \u2018frost\u2019 stress from low (\u22122 \u00b0C) to high (\u221210 \u00b0C). Notably, young seedling (cotyledons just breaking through the soil surface) showed little evidence of frost damage for temperatures down to \u22126 \u00b0C. At \u22128 \u00b0C, however, damage was evident, suggesting a cold tolerance threshold occurs at this temperature. Interestingly, for later developmental stages, when the first and second leaves were visible, notable differences were observed starting at \u22126 \u00b0C. The results indicate that the plant growth stage is an important parameter when screening for frost tolerance in germplasm. For this purpose, eight Andean lupin accessions, one white and one blue lupin commercial varieties were evaluated for 71 agro-morphological traits in a Randomized Complete Block design with three replications. Combined Analysis over Location presented a significant accession-location interaction for traits of economic interest such as seed crude protein and 100 seed weight. Seed crude protein was higher in L. mutabilis accessions (up to 43.8 g 100 g\uffe2\uff88\uff921 seed) than white and blue lupins. Floral traits such as color and size are related to pollinators diversity and preference. Insect pollinators and floral traits interplay among different lupin species was examined. Pollinators visited L. mutabilis flowers belong to the genera Anthophora, Bombus, Megachile and Xylocopa. After 100 days of incubation, the addition of PS and LFD resulted in a net N mineralization rate of 10.6 \uffc2\uffb1 0.3% and 20.6 \uffc2\uffb1 0.4% of the total applied N, respectively. The addition of CAN showed no significant net mineralization or immobilization (net N release 96 \uffc2\uffb1 6%). Therefore, for obtaining more knowledge, this research was conducted in Estonia in an organic crop rotation field experiment from 2012/2013 through 2015/2016 to study the effects of crops (potato \u2192 spring barley undersown with red clover \u2192 red clover \u2192 winter wheat \u2192 pea) under different treatments (TC\u2014control; TW\u2014winter cover crops; TW+M\u2014TW with farmyard manure 40 Mg ha\u22121 per crop rotation). The results showed that in the topsoil (5\u201310 cm), the soil water-stable aggregate (WSA) content (determined by the wet sieving method) from highest to lowest was following: pea (61.7%), winter wheat (61.6%), spring barley (61.5%), red clover (59.3%), potato (57.1%); whereas in the subsoil (30\u201335 cm): potato (50.6%), pea (48.5%), red clover (47.9%), spring barley (47.7%), winter wheat (46.4%). Therefore, potato was a noticeable crop, as among the crops, it had the lowest WSA content in the topsoil, while highest in the subsoil. The results shown gave an assumption that the after-effects of some crops (foremost with pea) were noticeable in the soil properties during the following crop. In the topsoil, the differences between crops were significant among crops just for TW and TW+M treatments. In TW, potato was lower than spring barley and winter wheat, but not significantly lower than pea or red clover. In the subsoil, significant differences between crops were observed for TC and TW treatments: in TC, potato was just significantly greater than red clover (but similar to other crops), and in TW, significantly greater than winter wheat. Furthermore, in the topsoil the soil organic carbon (SOC) content was not significantly affected by crops, and the use of winter cover crops generally increased the SOC content while concurrently decreased the WSA content and the soil maximum water holding capacity. This was probably caused by the additional tillage operations which cancelled out the possible benefits for the soil aggregates. As a consequence of the constantly declining SOC content, caused by the weakened soil aggregates, the plant-available P and K contents, especially in the absence of manure applications, decreased as well, probably due to the combination of fixation and removal of plant biomass. Latuca sativa, cultivar Siyahoo, was selected for this experiment due to its economic value all over the world. In the intensive orchard, there was not a significant increase in SOCstock in 0\u201360 cm, average of 4.06 and 4.16 kg m\u22122 in 2013 and 2018, respectively. Results indicate a potential for a significant increase in SOC and SOCstock in olive orchards at higher tree densities when combined with temporary cover crops and mulch of chopped pruning residues. The increase is associated with an increase in SOC, mainly at a 0\u201315 cm depth. The economic analysis showed that while intercrops may involve additional production costs, the correct choice of intercrops, purslane, and fava bean, in this case, can reduce the market risks for farmers. CT soils had a significantly lower aggregate stability compared to MT and G soils. The higher penetration resistance of CT under an arable layer suggested the presence of a plough pan. The objective of this study is to determine the temporal variation of airborne spores of Puccinia and their relationship with meteorological variables and the phenological development of a wheat crop in Northwestern Spain during two growing seasons. The study was conducted in A Limia, Ourense, located in Northwestern Spain, during the wheat growing seasons of 2021 and 2022. The Lanzoni VPPS 2010 spore trap was used to collect airborne spores, which were identified using optical microscopy. The wheat growing season was less than 95 days during both years, and wheat rust spores were detected during all phenological stages of the crop. Concentrations were higher than 100 spores/m3 from the booting stage to senescence, mainly in 2021. Statistical analyses showed that temperature was the meteorological variable that most influenced Puccinia concentrations in the air in both years. The modification of a prediction model proposed by other authors for wheat rust, which takes into account mean temperature (10\u201325 \u00b0C), dew point temperature (&lt;5 \u00b0C), and nighttime temperature (10\u201320 \u00b0C), allowed us to tentatively predict the increase in Puccinia concentrations in the year 2022 when these conditions occurred for four or five consecutive days. For this purpose, the relationships between the pathogen and the environmental conditions and epidemiological parameters were analysed in different plots compared to late blight infection in both Routine and DSS strategies. In addition, economic and environmental impacts of fungicide sprays were also analysed to check the adaptability of the decision support system to late blight in the area. Results confirmed that it is possible to reduce sprays following the NEGFRY model by more than 50% compared with Routine applications. Therefore, NEGFRY is a promising strategy to achieve lower footprint potato yields through a reduction in applied pesticides and water, lower gas emissions and less soil compaction due to a reduction in the number of tractor passes over the soil. Three ensemble machine learning models were trained to obtain spatial predictions of the C/N ratio, MAOM, and POM in German agricultural topsoil (0\u201310 cm). Parameter optimization and model evaluation were performed using nested cross-validation. Additionally, a modification to the regressor chain was applied to capture and interpret the interactions among the C/N ratio, MAOM, and POM. The ensemble models yielded mean absolute percent errors (MAPEs) of 8.2% for the C/N ratio, 14.8% for MAOM, and 28.6% for POM. Soil type, pedo-climatic region, hydrological unit, and soilscapes were found to explain 75% of the variance in MAOM and POM, and 50% in the C/N ratio. The modified regressor chain indicated a nonlinear relationship between the C/N ratio and SOM due to the different decomposition rates of SOM as a result of variety in its nutrient quality. In the context of the climate crisis, along with drought and erosion threats, especially in southern Europe, it is essential to define the limits and advantages of the QBS-ar index. We applied the QBS-ar index along a warm temperature gradient at three long-term experimental sites. Our results underlined that the QBS-ar is very sensitive for detecting soil quality and treatment effects. The results suggest that the choice of sampling season is a particularly vulnerable phase, especially for southern Mediterranean sites. Air temperature and cumulative precipitation, even in the months prior to sampling, are critical factors to consider when applying the QBS-ar index in European countries. Drought periods can negatively influence the results for soil microarthropod relative abundance; however, the presence of biological forms seems to provide useful information about the effects of treatments on soil quality. This paper lays the groundwork for scaled-up QBS-ar applications considering soils and several environmental characteristics of agroecosystems in Europe. The work can contribute to the development of applications of the index, facilitating and improving the monitoring of soil biology at the field scale. Botrytis cinerea, the causative agent of gray mold, significantly impacts crops like fruits and vegetables, including peppers. Early detection of this pathogen is crucial for a reduction in fungicide reliance and economic loss prevention. Traditionally, visual inspection has been a primary method for detection. However, symptoms often appear after the pathogen has begun to spread. This study employs the Deep Learning algorithm YOLO for single-class segmentation on plant images to extract spatial details of pepper leaves. The dataset included hyperspectral images at discrete wavelengths (460 nm, 540 nm, 640 nm, 775 nm, and 875 nm) from derived vegetation indices (CVI, GNDVI, NDVI, NPCI, and PSRI) and from RGB. At an Intersection over Union with a 0.5 threshold, the Mean Average Precision (mAP50) achieved by the leaf-segmentation solution YOLOv11-Small was 86.4%. The extracted leaf segments were processed by multiple Transformer models, each yielding a descriptor. These descriptors were combined in ensemble and classified into three distinct classes using a K-nearest neighbor, a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and a ResNet solution. The Transformer models that comprised the best ensemble classifier were as follows: the Swin-L (P:4 \u00d7 4\u2013W:12 \u00d7 12), the ViT-L (P:16 \u00d7 16), the VOLO (D:5), and the XCIT-L (L:24\u2013P:16 \u00d7 16), with the LSTM-based classification solution on the RGB, CVI, GNDVI, NDVI, and PSRI image sets. The classifier achieved an overall accuracy of 87.42% with an F1-Score of 81.13%. The per-class F1-Scores for the three classes were 85.25%, 66.67%, and 78.26%, respectively. Moreover, for B. cinerea detection during the initial as well as quiescent stages of infection prior to symptom development, qPCR-based methods (RT-qPCR) were used for quantification of in planta fungal biomass and integrated with the findings from the AI approach to offer a comprehensive strategy. The study demonstrates early and accurate detection of B. cinerea on pepper plants by combining segmentation techniques with Transformer model descriptors, ensembled for classification. Additionally, we evaluated the plant metabolites associated with salt stress (oxylipins, fatty acids (FAs) and hormones) by mass spectrometry. Salinity reduced rhizosphere bacterial diversity in salt-treated plants at 7 and 14 days and triggered a progressive shift of the bacterial structure, starting 7 days after salt stress imposed. The bacterial rhizosphere community became enriched with specific bacteria associated with potential genes involved in the PGP trait and ion homeostasis. This study highlights the innovating potential of such an approach, focusing on the detection and prediction of black aphids under state-of-the-art Deep Learning (DL) models. A dataset of 220 sticky paper images was captured. The detection system employs a YOLOv10 DL model that achieved an accuracy of 89.1% (mAP50). For insect population prediction, random forests, gradient boosting, LSTM, and the ARIMA, ARIMAX, and SARIMAX models were evaluated. The ARIMAX model performed best with a Mean Square Error (MSE) of 75.61, corresponding to an average deviation of 8.61 insects per day between predicted and actual insect counts. For the visualization of the detection results, the DL model was embedded to a mobile application. Subsequently, what will happen to the soil structure and how to balance soil nutrient environment in the situation of chemical fertilizer abuse?In the context of climate change, the amount of nitrogen allocated to the soil is predicted to increase with the productivity of terrestrial ecosystem, and may alter soil carbon storage capacities. To provide the proof of soil respiration responding to the nitrogen input for sympodial bamboo afforestation at the beginning period, we set up four nitrogen fertilization (CO (NH<sub>2</sub>)<sub>2</sub>) levels in mid-high mountain of southeast China, i. e. N content of 0, 40, 80, 160 kg/hm<sup>2</sup>(expressed on N<sub>0</sub>, N<sub>40</sub>, N<sub>80</sub>, N<sub>160</sub>, respectively), using the two-year old stump of wine bamboo which were planted every five meters. The soil respiration rate is measured by using trenching method and infrared gas analyzer. The responding mechanism is discussed through analyzing the change of soil temperature at 10 cm depth (T10), as well as changes of soil water-soluble organic carbon content (WSOC) and soil water content (SW).Results showed that soil respiration rate was quite different between rainy and dry seasons. The soil respiration rate increased at the end of April or in the beginning of May when the rainy season arrived. Its wave crest arrived in July, Aug. and Sept., and then the rate decreased along with the dry season in Nov., Dec., Feb. and Mar., then the trough of soil respiration rate appeared. The variation rule of T10, WSOC and SW was similar as this way. Exponential function could be used to describe the relationship between T10 and respiration rate. Meanwhile, WSOC and SW showed a linear relationship with the respiration rate respectively, and the regression test indicted that it was significant. And the temperature sensitivity value Q10 of a whole year was 2.45 -2.78 nearby. In rainy season, Q10 decreased to 1.66 - 1.89, which indicated that the sensitivity of respiration rate responding to temperature decreased. On the contrary, Q10 ascended to 4.85 - 9.54 in dry season. The yearly data of WSOC were unstable, and the nitrogen input could not enhance T10 and SW, but N<sub>80</sub> and N<sub>160</sub> could increase WSOC relatively. The changes of SW and T10 explained 96.10%, 94.30%, 94.48% and 92.99% of the variation of soil respiration rate in the treatment of N<sub>0</sub>, N<sub>40</sub>, N<sub>80</sub> and N<sub>160</sub>, which contributed most of the information. The main factor affecting the soil respiration in rainy and dry seasons was quite different, which was SW and T10 respectively.As a consequence, the increase in ecosystem productivity may lead to an increase in carbon turnover in the soil, via an increase in the amount of biomass. But its process and mechanism involving different carbon pools are very complex, and to measure the soil respiration rate alone can not totally reflect the whole change of carbon cycle. Furthermore, the correlation between soil indexes and crop yield under the best fertilization mode through the addition of the natural material of woody peat instead of lengthy cultivation of the plough layer to rapidly construct a high-quality plough layer and solve the practical problem that the natural endowment of newly reclaimed cultivated land is far less than the occupied high-quality cultivated land was explored. The land remediation project of Fuping County, Hebei Province, was taken as the experimental area, and the five most representative and effective datasets were selected and studied. The results demonstrated that the addition of woody peat and rotten straw could reduce soil particle size and bulk density and alleviate soil viscosity and acidification. An increase in soil organic matter, soil microbial biomass carbon (MBC), alkali-hydrolyzable nitrogen, available phosphorus, and available potassium and a decrease in the heavy metal content were also observed. The results indicated that the application of woody peat achieved the expected effect of the rapid construction of a high-quality plough layer. The best mode of fertilization was A2, which provided a good reference for the rapid construction of a high-quality plough layer in the future. The analysis of the correlation between soil indexes and crop yield illustrated that the organic matter content, soil available nutrients, and crop yield had a significant positive correlation; the organic matter content and soil available nutrients showed the same tendency, which suggests that soil organic matter content and soil fertility level are closely related and that soil fertility plays a decisive role in crop yield under the same external conditions. Woody peat exerted an eminent influence on the organic matter content and soil available nutrients to determine the change in crop yield, which provides a reliable basis for future research on land improvement projects to increase crop yield.</p></article>", "keywords": ["2.
