A Microcosm Experiment", "description": "Abstract Soil ecosystem engineers are major actors of soil macroaggregation, a process that drives the production of ecosystem services by soils. However, our inability to identify the origins of different types of macroaggregates found in soils is an obstacle to describing and modeling their dynamics and associated processes (C sequestration; hydraulic properties). This laboratory study investigated mechanisms of biological soil macroaggregation by two different earthworm species (Apporectodea caliginosa (Savigny) and Allolobophora chlorotica (Savigny) and two plant species (Trifolium pratense, Plantago lanceolata L.), in isolation and in all possible combinations. Near infrared (NIR) spectral analysis significantly discriminated macroaggregates according to the organisms that created them since each organism produced macroaggregates with distinct NIR signals (p", "keywords": ["570", "Earthworm-root interactions", "soil fertility", "earthworms", "NIR spectral signature", "04 agricultural and veterinary sciences", "fertilidad del suelo", "15. Therefore, it is necessary to identify soil organic carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) fractions to understand the functionality and stabilization of these reserves. Our objectives were to study the NT effect in two crop rotations, corn-double cropped wheat/soybean (MWS) and double cropped wheat/soybean (WS) on: 1) SOM and its particle size and biological fractions contents, 2) C and N stubble biomass and 3) some soil properties in order to explain the SOM differences found. The larger biomass residue remaining on the soil surface under NT promoted higher aggregate stability and lower soil temperature and pH. At 0-5 cm soil depth, NT exhibited higher C and N contents, for both uncomplexed and intimately associated to the mineral components fractions. However, the results indicated variations in the SOM protection according to the rotation: in MWS the high aggregate stability showed better physical protection, while in WS the greater cation exchange capacity and the lower value of N released by anaerobic incubation would indicate the presence of transformed SOM. At 5-20 cm soil depth, only in WS, C microbial biomass was higher with a low metabolic rate, indicating again the presence of highly decomposed SOM. The results obtained in WS under NT would indicate the possibility of achieving slower recycled of the SOM.", "keywords": ["Rotaci\u00f3n de Cultivos", "[SDE] Environmental Sciences", "soil organic matter fractions", "Plant Soil Relations", "Propiedades F\u00edsico-qu\u00edmicas Suelo", "Residuos de Cosechas", "Nitrogen", "[SDV]Life Sciences [q-bio]", "Crop Residues", "Conventional Tillage", "Materia Org\u00e1nica", "Labranza Convencional", "630", "Regi\u00f3n Pampa Ondulada", "no tillage;crop rotations;soil organic matter fractions", "Crop Rotation", "no tillage", "crop rotations", "Carbono", "[SDV.BV]Life Sciences [q-bio]/Vegetal Biology", "[SDV.BV] Life Sciences [q-bio]/Vegetal Biology", "Zero Tillage", "2. Including cover crops (CC) as part of an agricultural system is a promising choice in sustainable intensification of those demanding systems. We evaluated soil microbial functionality in cash crops in response to the inclusion of CC by analyzing soil microbial functions at two different periods of the agricultural year (cash crop harvest and CC desiccation) during 2013 and 2014. Three plant species were used as CC: oat (Avena sativa L.), vetch (Vicia sativa L.) and radish (Raphanus sativus L.) which were sown in two different mixtures of species: oat and radish mix (CC1) and oat, radish and vetch mix (CC2), with soybean monoculture and soybean/corn being the cash crops. The study of community level physiological profiles showed statistical differences in respiration of specific C sources indicating an improvement of catabolic diversity in CC treatments. Soil enzyme activities were also increased with the inclusion of CC mixtures, with values of dehydrogenase activity and fluorescein diacetate hydrolysis up to 38.1% and 35.3% higher than those of the control treatment, respectively. This research evidenced that CC inclusion promotes soil biological quality through a contribution of soil organic carbon, improving the sustainability of agrosystems. The use of a CC mixture of three plant species including the legume vetch increased soil biological processes and catabolic diversity, with no adverse effects on cash crop grain yield.
", "keywords": ["diversification", "Plantas de Cobertura", "Soil Microorganisms", "enzymes", "Agricultural environment and ecology", "microorganisms; soil functionality; sustainability; diversification; enzymes", "SUSTAINABILITY", "https://purl.org/becyt/ford/1.5", "Microorganismos del Suelo", "11. Arbuscular and ectomycorrhizal fungi are the two mycorrhizal types most relevant to worldwide ecosystems, but areas like the Indian sub-continent remain under-represented in global maps. The dataset presented here reports the available information regarding arbuscular and ectomycorrhizal fungi diversity in cultivated and natural ecosystems of the Indian subcontinent. We have selected studies published in English in ISI Web of Science during the years 2005 - 2020 that provided a taxonomic classification of MF and their associated abundance in terms of percentage of root colonization or number of spores per quantity of soil. From the screening of 74 studies, we have recorded: i. the scientific or common name of the plant or the generic habitat sampled for MF identification; ii the MF genus and species; iii. the location of the study with associated altitude and geographic coordinates; iv. main soil physico-chemical properties (soil pH, texture, organic Carbon, Total Nitrogen, available Phosphorus); climatic variables such as mean annual precipitation and temperature.<br><br>", "keywords": ["ecosystem management", "Asia", "Agricultural Sciences", "CGIAR Research Program on Water", " Land and Ecosystems", "Multifunctional Landscapes", "gesti\u00f3n de ecosistemas", "soil biology", "MYCORRHIZAE", "CGIAR Research Program", "Earth and Environmental Sciences", "SOIL BIOLOGY", "BIODIVERSITY", "mycorrhizae", "biolog\u00eda del suelo"], "contacts": [{"organization": "Beggi, Francesca, Dasgupta, Debarshi,", "roles": ["creator"]}]}, "links": [{"href": "https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/HXAH87"}, {"rel": "self", "type": "application/geo+json", "title": "10.7910/DVN/HXAH87", "name": "item", "description": "10.7910/DVN/HXAH87", "href": "https://repository.soilwise-he.eu/cat/collections/metadata:main/items/10.7910/DVN/HXAH87"}, {"rel": "collection", "type": "application/json", "title": "Collection", "name": "collection", "description": "Collection", "href": "https://repository.soilwise-he.eu/cat/collections/metadata:main"}], "time": {"date": "2021-01-01T00:00:00Z"}}], "links": [{"rel": "self", "type": "application/geo+json", "title": "This document as GeoJSON", "href": "https://repository.soilwise-he.eu/cat/collections/metadata:main/items?keywords=biolog%C3%ADa+del+suelo&f=json", "hreflang": "en-US"}, {"rel": "alternate", "type": "text/html", "title": "This document as HTML", "href": "https://repository.soilwise-he.eu/cat/collections/metadata:main/items?keywords=biolog%C3%ADa+del+suelo&f=html", "hreflang": "en-US"}, {"rel": "collection", "type": "application/json", "title": "Collection URL", "href": "https://repository.soilwise-he.eu/cat/collections/metadata:main", "hreflang": "en-US"}, {"type": "application/geo+json", "rel": "first", "title": "items (first)", "href": "https://repository.soilwise-he.eu/cat/collections/metadata:main/items?keywords=biolog%C3%ADa+del+suelo&", "hreflang": "en-US"}, {"rel": "last", "type": "application/geo+json", "title": "items (last)", "href": "https://repository.soilwise-he.eu/cat/collections/metadata:main/items?keywords=biolog%C3%ADa+del+suelo&offset=4", "hreflang": "en-US"}], "numberMatched": 4, "numberReturned": 4, "distributedFeatures": [], "timeStamp": "2026-09-21T15:55:21.825338Z"}
