It was established in autumn 1998 at the experimental station of the University of Rostock. The experimental station is located in Northern Germany in a maritime-influenced area about 15 km south of the Baltic Sea shore (54\u00b03\u203241.47\u2033N; 12\u00b05\u20325.59\u2033E). The average annual temperature is 8.1 \u00b0C and the mean annual precipitation is about 600 mm. The soil texture is loamy sand containing 1.1% Corg and the soil type is a Stagnic Cambisol according to the World Reference Base for Soil Resources. The initial double-lactate-soluble P content (DL-P) of 42.2 mg P kg\u22121 soil indicated a suboptimal P supply according to the soil P classification of the German federal state of\nMV. The field trial was arranged as randomized split-plot design with four replications with organic fertilizers as main plots and inorganic fertilizer as subplots.
