All profiles are georeferenced and classified in the FAO-Unesco Legend whereby they can be linked to the edited and digital version of the FAO-Unesco Soil Map of the World. In this study, we investigated the impact of long-term application of bioorganic fertilizer (BOF) on soil biochemical properties and microbial communities in the apple orchard soil of the Loess Plateau. The experiment included three treatments: (1) control without fertilization (CK); (2) chemical fertilizer application (CF); and (3) bioorganic fertilizer application (BOF). The high throughput sequencing was used to examine the bacterial and fungal communities in apple orchard soil. The results showed that the BOF treatment significantly increased the apple yield during the experimental time (2009-2015). The application of BOF significantly increased the activities of catalase and invertase compared to those in CK and CF treatments. The high throughput sequencing data showed that the application of BOF changed the microbial community composition of all soil depths considered (0-20 cm, 20-40 cm, and 40-60 cm), e.g., the relative abundance of bio-control bacteria (Xanthomonadales, Lysobacter, Pseudomonas, and Bacillus), Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Ohtaekwangia, Ilyonectria, and Lecanicillium was increased while that of Acidobacteria, Chloroflexi, Gp4, Gp6 and Sphaerobacter was decreased. The increase in apple yield after the application of BOF might be due to increase in organic matter, total nitrogen and catalase and invertase activities of soil and change in the bacterial community composition by enriching Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Lysobacter, and Ohtaekwangia. Each treatment was set  up with three replicates for a total of nine plots. Soil samples were  extracted from all nine plots in 2021 (January in Winter, April in Spring,  July in Summer, and October in Autumn). The soil samples collected for  each plot are divided into 0-15cm topsoil and 15-30cm subsoil. We measured  the content of microbial necromass in these soil samples as well as soil  properties. Based on these data, we analyzed the ecological correlations  between soil depth, drought intensity, soil properties and microbial  necromass. ## Description of the data and file structure This dataset  showed the raw data we used in the manuscript. All profiles have been harmonized with respect to the original Legend (1974) and Revised Legend (1988) of FAO-Unesco. Thereby, the primary soil data \u2500 and any secondary data derived from them \u2500 can be linked using GIS to the spatial units of the digitized Soil Map of the World as well as more recent digital Soil and Terrain (SOTER) databases through the soil legend code.  \n\nWISE3 holds selected attribute data for some 10,250 soil profiles, with some 47,800 horizons, from 149 countries. Individual profiles have been sampled, described, and analyzed according to methods and standards in use in the originating countries. The depth to which agricultural management practices affect SOM is uncertain. Soil depth can have an important influence on SOM dynamics, so it is important to consider depth effects to fully account for changes, particularly in soil organic C (SOC) stocks. This is particularly true when assessing C faming measures, which are becoming increasingly important due to climate change. We sampled and analysed the top metre of mineral arable soils from ten long-term experiments (LTEs) in Germany to quantify and qualify the depth-dependent effects on SOC stocks, C and nitrogen (N) content, the \u03b413C and \u03b415N signature and the C/N ratio of the soils due to common agricultural management practices: Mineral N fertilisation (only for SOC stocks), a combination of N, phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) fertilisation, irrigation, crop rotation with legumes, straw incorporation, farmyard manure (FYM) application, liming and reduced tillage. In addition, the effects of soil compaction (only for the SOC stocks) were analysed as a negative side-effect of agricultural management. The dataset includes metadata and research data on soil properties at 0-100 cm, e.g., mean annual temperature and precipitation, C and N content, SOC stocks, water content, texture data (sand, silt, clay), pH, \u03b413C and \u03b415N values. The land surface between longitudes -180o W and +180o E and latitudes +90o N and -90o S has been characterized using 45948 unique map units; each of these can comprise from one to ten soil units, characterized according to the original legend of the 1:5 million scale Soil Map of the World (FAO-Unesco 1974). \n\nSoil parameter estimates for each of these units were derived from analyses of some 9600 profiles held in a working copy of WISE (ver. 2.0). Twenty-two soil variables, identified as being useful for agro-ecological zoning, land evaluation, crop growth simulation, modelling of soil gaseous emissions and analyses of global environmental change, were considered. \n\nParameter estimates for the topsoil (0-30 cm) and the subsoil (30-100 cm) are presented for the following variables: content of organic carbon, total nitrogen, the C/N ratio, pH(H2O), CECsoil, CECclay, base saturation, total exchangeable bases, aluminum saturation, exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP), electrical conductivity of saturated paste (ECe), calcium carbonate content, gypsum content, content of sand, silt and clay, content of fragments less than 2 mm, bulk density, total porosity. For soil drainage class, effective soil depth, and available water capacity (-10 to -1500 kPa), however, parameter estimates are presented on a profile basis.\n\nThe parameter estimates - median values - presented here should be seen as best estimates; possible types and sources of uncertainty are discussed in the report. The depth to which agricultural management practices affect SOM is uncertain. Soil depth can have an important influence on SOM dynamics, so it is important to consider depth effects to fully account for changes, particularly in soil organic C (SOC) stocks. This is particularly true when assessing C faming measures, which are becoming increasingly important due to climate change. We sampled and analysed the top metre of mineral arable soils from ten long-term experiments (LTEs) in Germany to quantify and qualify the depth-dependent effects on SOC stocks, C and nitrogen (N) content, the \u03b413C and \u03b415N signature and the C/N ratio of the soils due to common agricultural management practices: Mineral N fertilisation (only for SOC stocks), a combination of N, phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) fertilisation, irrigation, crop rotation with legumes, straw incorporation, farmyard manure (FYM) application, liming and reduced tillage.
