The aim here is to establish an agro-pedological database with a strong practical purpose.  The data are derived from the programmes of zoning of the wine potential of Languedoc-Roussillon, as part of the State-Region plans for a better adaptation of grape variety between 1980 and 1996 and the departmental programme of knowledge and valorisation of terroirs between 2000 and 2006. The data were digitised as part of the Soil Digitalisation Program of the Association Climatologique de l\u2019H\u00e9rault (now integrated into the Department) conducted in partnership with the Chambre d\u2019Agriculture de l\u2019H\u00e9rault and the Conseil D\u00e9partemental de l\u2019H\u00e9rault from 2009 to 2011. The methodology of agro-paedological mapping of the department of H\u00e9rault was developed on a scientific basis in collaboration with Professors P. Bonfils and G. Labau of the Laboratory of Geology and Soil Science of INRA Montpellier, from the 1980s. The base is currently corrected and maintained by the Department of H\u00e9rault. It was also completed on its territory by the M\u00e9tropole de Montpellier in 2018/2019.  **Completeness Limits**: The cartography ** does not cover all the Heraultese communes, nor the total area of each municipality**. As a result, **uninvented soil means a lack of data.**   **Mapping precision limits**: The mapping of soil properties ** is on a scale of 1/10\u00a0000th** (so-called \u201ccommunal\u201d scale). They must not be used on a higher scale. Thus, superposition with cadastral plans made on larger scales is not recommended by experts.   Different ** confidence indices** allow to translate the uncertainty of the cartographic limits.   Some attributes such as depth or texture are estimates made from field surveys. In environmental studies, these soil data alone are not sufficient to understand a territory. They need to be crossed with other types of data such as climatology.   **The data made available should therefore be used with caution according to the accuracy limits**. The department of H\u00e9rault and its technical and scientific partners cannot be held responsible for inaccuracies in the databases and for inappropriate uses of the databases. In recent years, the environmental impact of growing Christmas trees has been raised several times (use of plant protection products, conversion of permanent grassland into crops, etc.).  The Directorate for Environmental Status (DEE) is responsible for drawing up and publishing reports on the state of the environment in Wallonia. The purpose of these Reports is to draw up a critical, evolving and forward-looking assessment of the various components of the Walloon environment, the pressures exerted by human activities and an analysis of the management carried out, in order to inform policy-makers, citizens, environmental stakeholders and managers (Articles D32 to D36 of Book I of the Environment Code and Decree of 16 March 2006 on the right of public access to environmental information). In this context, the EED maintains scientific monitoring and initiates the necessary studies to integrate emerging environmental issues. It is in this context that the DEE (SPW-DGO3-DEMNA) carried out a study to produce a map of the areas devoted to the cultivation of the Christmas tree (csN) in Wallonia.  On the basis of methodological principles (see genealogy), the data layer distinguishes the following three classes: - Class 1: plantations of Christmas trees proper; - Class 2: production of seedlings (areas dedicated to the production of Christmas tree seedlings, forest seedlings or ornamental seedlings (sowing and plucking phases); - Class 3: inedible nurseries and horticultural crops (forest, fruit or ornamental nurseries and inedible horticultural crops).  The 2015 anonymous agricultural plot was used as source data. For classes 1 and 2, the plots concerned are first identified by photo-interpretation of the infrared of the orthophotos. The plots mostly covered by Christmas trees are copied from the agricultural plot. In the case of partial occupancy or if the parcel is adjacent to the agricultural parcel, a new parcel is created.  Class 3 is derived only from the layer of the anonymous agricultural parcel on the basis of the crop code entered in that layer.  Each plot is represented in polygonal form and is described in relation to different administrative variables (commune, province), environmental variables (bioclimatic region, altitude) and cultural variables (nature of production).  The data layer covers the entire Walloon territory. The aim here is to establish an agro-pedological database with a strong practical purpose.  The data are derived from the programmes of zoning of the wine potential of Languedoc-Roussillon, as part of the State-Region plans for a better adaptation of grape variety between 1980 and 1996 and the departmental programme of knowledge and valorisation of terroirs between 2000 and 2006. The data were digitised as part of the Soil Digitalisation Program of the Association Climatologique de l\u2019H\u00e9rault (now integrated into the Department) conducted in partnership with the Chambre d\u2019Agriculture de l\u2019H\u00e9rault and the Conseil D\u00e9partemental de l\u2019H\u00e9rault from 2009 to 2011. The methodology of agro-paedological mapping of the department of H\u00e9rault was developed on a scientific basis in collaboration with Professors P. Bonfils and G. Labau of the Laboratory of Geology and Soil Science of INRA Montpellier, from the 1980s. A chaque entit\u00e9 spatiale sont associ\u00e9es des informations concernant le nom du site, ses coordonn\u00e9es g\u00e9ographiques, les quantit\u00e9s de mati\u00e8re s\u00e8che clap\u00e9es chaque ann\u00e9e entre 2005 et 2015 en tonnes (donn\u00e9es d\u00e9claratives), le nombre d'ann\u00e9es o\u00f9 au moins une op\u00e9ration de clapage a eu lieu, la somme et la moyenne des quantit\u00e9s de mati\u00e8re s\u00e8che clap\u00e9es en tonnes sur la p\u00e9riode 2005-2015.
